Description

My partner and I used this bread for breakfast toast, sandwiches, and dipping in soup, and we both agreed it was a recipe we’d make again. The Cuisinart Compact Automatic Bread Maker also has 12 preprogrammed menu options, three crust shades and the ability to choose from three loaf sizes (1-, 1. We haven't had one loaf that flopped or didn't rise yet on this one which happened occasionally with our last machine from another manufacturer.

Editorial independence means being able to give an unbiased verdict about a product or company, with the avoidance of conflicts of interest. About halfway through this first stage, the mixing pan actually came loose and started banging around in the baking chamber, sending my dogs into a barking frenzy. In addition to how well each loaf turned out, I took note of my overall experience, the ease of use and the look and feel of the machines, including the countertop space they took up, design details (like collapsible paddles and a handy beeping function) and the ability to customize loaves to suit dietary needs. We especially like the French bread and it is great to wake up to the smell of fresh bread on a Sunday morning. It also has programs for making cakes, doughs and jams, and features a dispenser for adding seeds and dried fruits at the right time.It also stands out from other bread makers thanks to its horizontal loaf shape, which I much prefer to the tall, skinny loaves from machines like the Oster Expressbake Bread Maker. Given the sheer number of tasks you are asking a bread machine to perform—kneading, proofing, resting and baking—it’s no surprise that most machines feel bulky and big on the countertop. However, this didn’t seem to affect its overall performance, and the interior was still in pristine condition. The first is that I should have been monitoring the dough wetness during the machine's kneading, and adding small amounts of flour or water depending on how wet or dry the dough looked. In the pantheon of bread shapes, nothing brings back a sense of ’90s nostalgia like a vertical, boxy loaf with a gaping hole at the bottom.

All the recipes in the included booklet that I've tried have turned out well, whether baked in the pan or on the dough cycle. Once the bread finished rising, the machine beeped several times, letting me know that it was time to remove the mixing paddle. The Cuisinart Bread Maker gives total control – you choose the ingredients, the size and browning level of the loaf and the Bread Maker does the rest.

The loaf was a little tricky to remove from the pan, despite its nonstick finish, and I had to run a knife around the edges a few times before I could get it out. The fact that it has pre-programmed menu options for GF bread allowing you to simply add in the ingredients and let the machine do the rest is very very convenient. I often line the dish with a piece of parchment so I can remove the hot bread to cool on a cutting board without burning my fingers and immediately put a chicken in the same pot to roast, saving the effort of washing it in between.
